Cookie Policy

Last updated: January 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar tracking technologies are used on scanhua.site, why we use them, and how you can control or refuse them. It complements and should be read alongside our Privacy Policy. The policy is written to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) as transposed into national law (in Italy, by Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali guidelines), the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the CPRA.

1. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device (computer, phone, tablet) when you visit. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to provide information to the operators of the site. Similar technologies covered by this policy include local storage, pixel tags, and fingerprinting techniques.

2. Categories of cookies we use

We classify cookies into three categories. The handling of each is different.

2a. Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the operation of the Site and cannot be disabled in our consent banner. They include session identifiers, security cookies, and load-balancing cookies set by our hosting and CDN infrastructure. Without these, basic functions of the Site (loading pages, processing comments, maintaining secure sessions) would not work.

Legal basis: legitimate interest, no consent required under ePrivacy/GDPR.

2b. Analytics cookies

These cookies help us understand how readers use the Site — which pages are visited, how long readers stay, what referring sources brought them here. We use this data to improve the Site, not to identify individual readers.

We use privacy-respecting analytics tooling that anonymizes IP addresses where technically feasible. These cookies are set only after you have given consent through our cookie banner.

Legal basis: consent.

2c. Marketing and advertising cookies

These cookies are set by our advertising partners and enable advertisers to show ads relevant to your interests. They may collect information about your browsing across multiple sites. The primary advertising network we work with is Adsterra; see their privacy policy for details on the cookies they set.

Legal basis: consent. These cookies are set only after explicit acceptance.

3. Specific cookies in use

Specific advertising cookies set by third parties may vary depending on which advertisers are bidding on a given impression. Our consent banner provides a granular interface for accepting or refusing each category.

4. How to control or delete cookies

You have several mechanisms for controlling cookies:

Refusing analytics and marketing cookies will not prevent you from using the Site. It will mean that you continue to see ads (we still need to fund the operation), but those ads will be untargeted rather than tailored.

5. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Where your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a valid signal of refusal of consent for the purposes that GPC covers, in line with CCPA/CPRA guidance. Older “Do Not Track” headers are considered alongside other signals but, given the lack of consensus on their meaning, are not on their own determinative.

6. Changes to this policy

We update this Cookie Policy whenever the cookies in use on the Site change in a non-trivial way, or when relevant law changes. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes are announced through the consent banner, which prompts re-confirmation when categories of cookies materially change.

7. Questions

If you have questions about cookies on scanhua.site that are not answered above, write to privacy [at] scanhua [punto] site with the subject line Cookie inquiry.
